Studies show that students who are involved in after-school activities and athletics perform better academically. Martin Luther King, Jr. Early College actively encourages students to join clubs and teams in order to learn how to manage their time, pursue their passions, stretch their minds, interact with peers, and have fun. Many of the Early College faculty members sponsor activities or coach sports. It is a terrific opportunity for students and their teachers to improve working relationships. High school students, in particular, are strongly encouraged to participate in student life. Meaningful high school activities are important to list on college applications.
