Martin Luther King Jr. Early College after school athletics is a full comprehensive athletic program in DPS Nuggets/Avalanche Prep League. The athletic program competes against all 8 middle schools. A $25 participation fee must be paid prior to the first game for each sport; this pays for DPS officials and playoffs.

Student athletes must have current physicals to be eligible to participate in a sport. Athletic physicals may be picked up at registration in the health clinic. Physicals may be completed by your family doctor or at the school health clinic, dates and times of physicals will be provided.

Practices are held after school Monday through Friday from 2:40 to 4:30. Students are responsible for providing transportation home following practices and games; this is not provided by MLK Jr. Games begin at 3:45.
